Ranieri: «Three well deserved and hard-earned points»

Claudio Ranieri applauded his team as they exited the dressing rooms of the Bergamo stadium, a field which he feared a lot and from which Juventus managed to bring home three well-deserved points: «It was a well deserved and hard-earned victory – confirmed the coach – I could have imagined that it wouldn’t have been easy away to Atalanta, seeing that they had obtained 19 of the 24 points they won in front of their fans. Del Neri’s team made us tremble. The second half was well fought with none of the teams wanting to give up and at the end we got the best out of it».

Ranieri reveals a few moves and worries: «When I moved Del Piero to the left I did so because I saw we were having some problems in that area. Placing him in that position they would either choose to remain in their half of the field or open up a passage for us. Vieri? I told them in the dressing rooms that they would have to be careful with him. The first time they managed to stop him, the second unfortunately they didn’t but it is not our shortcoming but the merit goes to the player who is capable of champion moves.»

The last thought is reserved for Amauri: «He is doing really well and thanks to him we are not missing Trezeguet. To elaborate a bit, it was my objective to have a photocopy of the team in the sense that I wanted two similar players in each role to be able to compete on all fronts and have the possibility of choosing the best , fielding the players who are most in form.»
